U. P. AGUMAN HISTORY
The University of the Philippines Aguman started out as a simple "barkadahan" as Capampangans of similar breed searched for their own kind. Like any other organization, it has experienced its own ups and downs before it became what it is right now. Today, UP Aguman has established its feats and further spread its endeavors on a wider scale. The organization boasts its most important projects such as the PAUTAKAN, SINING, and CEER as they are presented in full scale.
Officially recognized in December 12, 1973 by the University of the Philippines Office of Student Affairs, UP Aguman aims to uphold the truth, to promote man's inherent goodness (particularly the Capampangans), and to appreciate the value of human relations. Not long after it was established, the organization launched the very first PAUTAKAN. In February 1984, SINING, which has served as a venue for the artistic talents of the students, came into realization. Then, in August 1991, the organization introduced the CEER (formerly known as the UPCAT Review) that paved a way to help the Capampangan hihg school seniors prepare for the different college entrance examinations. Still heeding the call of our Cabalens, we've also sponsored outreach work such as Pinatubo Kid's Day-Out, visiting Bahay Pag-ibig, and medical missions.
But UP Aguman is not all work and service. It is also about friendship and fun. The UP Aguman "tambayan" is the abode of "lakwatsa", card games, and study groups. Now, in its 25 years of glorious existence, members have come and gone, but the bond that existed during the 70's live on, for each of us swore: "I will live not for myself alone, forever in the UP Aguman I will belong."
